Sandra Ruth Blackburn Moore

April 28th, 1958 - Friday, August 14th, 2026.

Sandra Ruth Blackburn Moore, aged 68, of Planet Earth, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones at 12:09 am on Friday, August 14th, 2026.

Born on April 28th, 1958, in the small prairie town of Bengough, Saskatchewan, Sandy exemplified what it means to live life to its fullest. Growing up, moving with her band of siblings across several provinces, she developed an incredible talent for performing live theatre, which later led to stealing the show in the British Columbia pageant circuit, becoming Miss PNE in 1977.

In 1980, she landed her dream job as a flight attendant for Pacific Western Airlines, moving to Edmonton to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Sandy spent 45 years in the air, travelling internationally and experiencing all that the world had to offer her, and she was both deeply proud and grateful to have called it her career.

Sandy had a profound ability to make others feel heard, adored, safe & loved. To all who had the privilege of feeling her love, she was the one people looked to for support, and she never missed an opportunity to be the superhero that her loved ones needed.

From gymnastics to hockey, soccer, golf, dance & many other activities, there was almost nothing she loved more than cheering on her children and their teammates. Rivalling that was her fierce love of the dozens of pets who walked the journey of life alongside her, though we know she would say they were her children too.

Her family was her pride and joy, and she was exactly that to her family. Her stories, lessons, love and legacy of compassion for all will live on in every ‘please & thank you’, every warm hug, every opportunity for advocacy and every chance to be there for a friend in need.

Though she earned her angel wings this morning, Sandy lived her life as if she already had them on. She will be tremendously missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her.

Sandy is survived by her beloved children Maggie, Caeden & his wife Sydney, her mother, Dody, her siblings Barbara, Jody and Donald, her dear friends Stephen & Kit, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Laurie, Kerry & Dave, her loving nieces and nephews, Greg, Julie, Carly and Erica, and last but certainly not least, her cat Ellie.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Mark Preece House in Hamilton, Ontario, at the link below. Their mission is to provide comfortable and caring, temporary, and affordable accommodations to out-of-town families attending to a loved one in care at a Hamilton hospital.

Cheers to a beautiful life well lived and to the queen of the sky. Safe travels, Momma.
