Edward Eugene Doholis
June 9, 2025
It is with much sadness, that the family of Ed Doholis announce his peaceful passing on June 9, 2025 at the age of 88 years. Ed was an amazing, kind-hearted and generous man and was dedicated to his family and friends. Somehow he touched the lives of everyone he knew. He always had a kind word or a compliment for everyone and was constantly showing gratitude. His favourite saying was “it sure is great to be alive!” Ed’s true sense of accomplishment came from his 43 years of working at the F.W. Woolworth company where he started working with his brothers John and Bill.
He started out as a lot boy and eventually became store manager. He was moved to the executive suite in 1973 and was instrumental in planning and opening Woolco stores all across Canada. He was a world traveller and avid golfer. In 1989 he played in the Canadian Pro Am with Johnny Miller and Mario Lemieux.
Ed is predeceased by his loving wife, Marie Doholis of 63 years, he leaves behind his beloved children Debbie Raycroft and Wendy Bavelaar (Kevin), his grandchildren that brought him so much joy Danielle Gomes (Andrew) and Hailey Raycroft, and his beautiful great grandchildren Teliah, Ryan and Seth. Survived by his sister Katherine Sokyrka (the late Fr. Michael). Predeceased by brothers Michael, John, and William, and sisters Grace and Helen.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all his caregivers that treated him like a part of their families. He was so lucky to have such dedicated people supporting him, both in Mississauga and at his recent new home in Fort Erie.
Special thanks to the staff at Viva Mississauga where he thrived for 4 1/2 years. He had many friends there, and he enjoyed life to the fullest. There was always something to do, including music activities, exercise classes, trips to the casino, bingo, painting, cooking, shuffleboard, billiards, flower arranging, gardening, and so much more. He was always an enthusiastic participant.
Gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Gilmore Lodge for their special care and attention to Ed. Ed’s memory will always be cherished by his family, extended family and friends. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
