Dannie passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, Friday October 30, 2026.
He was the beloved Dad of Kim (Robin) Schutt, Dannie (Teaisha) Whittingham Jr, Tammy (Mark) Burlow and his star Wendy, Pre-deceased 1997, (Tim Murphy). Proud Poppa of Emily (Matt), Joel (Hayley), Steven, Tareca(Nick), Andre(Sophie), Noah, Mac, and Samantha (Sean), and "the Greats", Freya, Emrick, Gordon and Otoyaha. Treasured brother of Jackie Whittingham. Well remembered by the McKellar family.
A stroke survivor, he lived the last 19 years as an example of determination and persistence. Despite his hardships, he always had a big smile and loved a good visit and a good snack. Forever a Maple Leafs fan he loved the Buffalo Bills, classic model cars and Nascar. He was an avid bicyclist.
He volunteered extensively in Fort Erie as a Fireman for East Bertie Station 3, FE minor ball and minor hockey coach, RCL Br 71 and NRP as Auxiliary officer during his time as a Pipe band member. He could be seen drumming in the Pipe bands of Frontier Pipes and Drums, Dundas and NRP with his famous Whittingham Strut.
Thank you to Gilmore Lodge for their exemplary care and compassion. He was safe and well cared for. Passages - End of Life Services, Ridgeway, ON was entrusted with arrangements and cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of life will take place at Royal Canadian Legion Br. 71, 130 Garrison Road, Fort Erie. Sunday November 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Donations in Dannie's memory can be made to Heart and Stroke or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
